So, we're having a little gathering on Sunday for my birthday... I think everyone's getting here around 2, and we're gonna have hamburgers and whatnot, and then COOKIE CAKE for dessert!  It's gonna be delicious, and you two better be there!

We're soooo close to beach time! Woo hoo! I wanted to make a post where we can put all of our ideas in one place so that we don't miss anything. This is a list of the food I remember being suggested in the past, along with a few of my additions:

- water (taken care of; Jess is bringing)
- sodas
- ingredients to make dinner one night (need to decide what we're making)
- cake mix (yesss) and all the necessary ingredients (except cold stuff)
- disposable cookie sheets
- plasticware? (do the condos have that stuff?)
- cookies ('cause we can't bake Oreos, duh)
- bread, pb&j
- chips & salsa

As far as cold stuff, I know we'll need cookie dough, grapes/other fruit, other stuff for sandwiches (if y'all want), and eggs (for the cake). What am I missing? Please add all your other ideas for food in a comment, and I'll try to edit this entry as we go so that we have one comprehensive list.

Other logistical stuff:
What time are we heading out on Friday? Is there a certain time that we can start checking into the condo, or can we do it anytime? And the age-old question, who's driving?

Any other questions y'all have?

Get ready, ladies! It's almost time for the best weekend ever.

So we have some things we need to think about before we leave on Friday.

First of all, who's driving?

Second, when can we go grocery shopping this week?  I was thinking maybe Wednesday (or Thursday before the band concert).

grocery list, feel free to add more in commentsCollapse )

I love you guys!  I can't wait till this weekend!

now for MY ramblings...

I'm upset... no, beyond upset to pissed off, almost to the point of being offended.

Apparently, because I'm bigger than a size 10, people don't think I should be wearing a skirt.  Not a denim skirt anyway.  A skort?  Oh yeah, we'll give all the big girls denim skirts with denim shorts underneath them.  That'll be comfortable for them.  YOU TRY WEARING ONE DURING THE SUMMER IN TEXAS.  I just want a cute denim skirt to take with me when we go to the beach.  But apparently no one wants me to wear one.

I don't freaking understand it.  Clothing manufacturers want bigger girls to wear huge baggy jeans, shorts down to their knees, and shirts that could double as a shopping bag.  Oh, and let's label the clothes "plus size," "extended size."  That'll make us feel really good about ourselves.  I just can't understand why they can't just add a little extra fabric to their "normal people" clothes and call it good.  Ok, maybe the little half shirts and stuff we shouldn't wear, I'll give you that.  But cute tanks and shirts and skirts, c'mon.  I just don't understand it.  And when I can find cute clothes that make me feel good in them, they're expensive as hell -- we're talking like 60 bucks for a shirt!  And usually around 70 to 100 bucks for jeans.  Uncalled for.  We're people, too, and we want to look just as good as everyone else, and pay what everyone else pays.  If you don't like it if my legs are exposed because I'm wearing a skirt or you can see my arms and they're too flabby for you, then don't fucking look.  I feel good about myself, and I want to look as good as I feel, but I just can't in those way too oversized t-shirts and a skort.

I should just learn to make my own damn clothes.

Sorry, I'm done now, really.

y'all are the only ones who get to read my ramblings.

Aren't you excited??!

Okay, so I am frustrated.

I'm freaking out about registration because it's my last year at UT and there are some classes that I NEED to get into. I had priority registration because of being an OA, but that didn't help me at all because of the weirdness of those classes. If this doesn't make sense, just hold on.

I NEED to have an internship at least one semester while I'm here, because Government is the biggest major in the biggest college (COLA) in the biggest University (uhh) in Austin, and I need to do SOMETHING to stand out. I pretty much already have the internship lined up because the exec director enjoyed my email so much. Sweet. But see, in order to get 3 Government hours toward my degree for this internship, I have to be accepted to the Government internship program. I applied, and applicants still haven't been notified. If I get in, I'll have to meet with my "class" like 3 times, write a few papers about my experience, and that's it. If I don't get in, I don't know what I'm going to do, because I don't have time to take another Government class *and* do an unpaid internship for no class credit. Blah. And while I wait to hear about whether I got into the program, all the GOV classes are filling up and I'm getting worried. It's April 28, the very last day of registration & add/drops until at least a month from now (but I think my advisor was lying...it probably won't be until August) and I just really want my LAST fall semester to be set before my OA stuff starts, you know?

My other class I'm worried about is the research class with Theriault, my favorite professor. He chooses about 5 students a semester to help him with his research and he's already said I'm in. However, the GOV department still hasn't cleared my EID so that I can register for the class (it's restricted). So that's up in the air, too. I just want to be in it so I can stop worrying and drop my "placeholder" classes that I'm signed up for now to keep me at full-time. Ugh.

ANOTHER class I'm worried about is an elective, Intergroup Dialogue. It's supposed to be really cool and it's taught by one of my OA supervisors, so I really want to take it. Of course, there's an application process for this class, as well. I'm meeting with said supervisor this afternoon, so maybe he can clear my EID to let me register for it today. That would be one less thing to worry about. But I have no idea if he has that power.

So now I am registered for 4 classes, only 2 of which I plan on keeping. The other 3 classes I need are in purgatory and I'm pissed.

In other news, I had to give a presentation yesterday, which was basically like training for a certain program this summer, and I realized that in about a month I will be introducing myself like this: "Hi y'all, I'm Victoria, and I'm a senior here at UT..." WHAT? I knew I'd be graduating next year quite some time ago, but SENIOR sounds so ridiculously weird. In a year, I'll be scrambling to find a Real Job. OMGOMGOGMOMGOG.

Okay, if y'all made it this far, you're amazing. I'm going to go to class soon, but first, I'm going to waste more time on the internet and finish my delicious blueberry muffin. Yummmm. I love you two! Just 3 weeks until glory!!!

I want some cookies really bad...

Ladies, just thought I'd let you guys know that I'm going today, tomorrow at the latest, to put your checks in the bank.  I want to make sure for certain that I wasn't going to be scheduled for work before I deposited them.  Just thought you guys might wanna know why it was taking so long.

Love you, can't wait to see you guys again!

hey you guys.

i'm at the flawn academic center where it has to be like 65 degrees. it's 85-90 outside yet i am wearing a sweater and jeans and high-tops because it is so damned cold in this place. seriously, my fingers are kind of numb. maybe this explains why i'm on livejournal instead of studying for my test that's happening in two hours.

dear jessica and darla, y'all are so much better than being productive. i'd rather not study rational choice theory. i'd rather give y'all hugs and play taboo.

if either of you are up at this ungodly hour (oh wait i just realized it's not 7am anymore. but still), you should give me comments to make me feel better. if i even stay here much longer...i think i'm getting hypothermia.

p.s. i never type lj posts without proper capitalization. i really don't know what brought this on.
